Week 5 - Tasmania
After a wonderful month in New Zealand, we're now in Australia, beginning with a week traveling in Tasmania. Unlike our stay on the south island of NZ, we're really just scratching the surface of Tassie, sticking mostly to the southern coast within a couple hours of Hobart, the main city. Nonetheless, we've managed to get out and see quite a bit, in addition to visiting with Norma''s Aussie family and some friends from highschool here. Highlights included our Airbnb on the water in Dunnally (with kayaks!), a great beach walk in Tasman National Park, a beautiful wander around the Royal Botanical Garden in Hobart, and a drive up Mt Wellington. Hobart and the small towns we drove through in the Huon Valley were the big surprise - really charming. Kind of like the best of small villages in New York & New England but with a distinctly Tassie character... We even got in a nice bit of wine tasti...
